1432 and 1421 on the Railroad Boosters Trip at Jefferson and Griffith
It’s January 15, 1939, and the Railroad Boosters’ two-car Los Angeles Railway set featuring nos. 1432 and 1421 pause at the corner of Jefferson and Griffith in Los Angeles, next to “The Alert Sundries Store” which features ultra-crisp painted graphics on the building’s side. Note the conductor in the foreground left and the dropped left-front window.
This Railroad Boosters trip is also documented here, here, here, and here.

Actually, the MU train has just crossed Jefferson Bl. on McClintock (U line) and has just turned the corner onto 32nd st.From there the tracks went east one short block to Hover St. where the tracks turned north to 23rd st. There , the tracks turned east again along 23rd st.
I lived in the area of 32nd and McClintock. There was never a store on the southeast corner that I can remember. There was also a two story wooden fire station on the southwest side of McClintock that does not show in the picture. 32nd street ran further west where it met Jefferson Blvd at Orchard avenue. Also, there was no service station on the corner as 32nd street was lined with homes at that location. McClintock dead ended at 32nd street.
– the street signs are visible and read “E Jefferson Blvd” and “Griffith” – ed.
