LARY 3060 in Affluent Hancock Park
By Ralph Cantos
This 1938 photo from an General Electric advertisement shows Los Angeles Railway car no. 3060 on W. 3rd Street at Windsor Blvd. in LA’s “well-to-do” Hancock Park area.
The General Electric Company was very proud of LA’s GE-equipped PCCs and milked that fact for all it was worth. Here, the then-new 3060 poses for the camera while operating on the 3 line.
The house just behind the 3060 still stands today at 279 S. Windsor Blvd. (n-w corner). I showed this photo to the current owners, and they were shocked to learn that streetcars once operated along 3rd Street.
