Pacific Electric 626 at 6th and Main

Pacific Electric Hollywood car no. 626 rests at 6th and Main passenger platforms, probably as part of a railfan excursion. The motorman is seated to the left of his station, while an eager young person is at the “controls” for the shot. Unlikely this car went to Santa Anita, either.

It’s possible that a train of Hollywood cars was used on a Race Track special, but not likely. PE 626 still exists–it’s stored in Barn 7 at Southern Calif Ry. Museum in Perris with its later number 5123, and may even have traces of its LAMTA number 1812. The car is complete but needs a lot of work to make it operable.
