The body of PE 1000 is preserved at Orange Empire. Not sure when the car was “decommissioned” but it became a house in Baldwin Park, probably in the late 1940’s. In 1964, the body was rescued by volunteers from what was then Orange Empire Trolley Museum, including myself (who climbed a tree and sawed off a branch that was blocking the project).
Upon further examination, the car on the right may be an ex-Northwestern Pacific “blimp”, just beginning its service on PE.

Thanks, Everett. I don’t do things like that anymore–leaving tree climbing to more agile folks now. 1000 is now on trucks (I think we finally got some correct Brill trucks; it had been sitting on ex Chicago El Baldwin trucks.) Last time I looked, it was in Barn 4, so it’s under cover.
