    Indeed it was, and I think the signal on the left side of the photo was part of the installation prompted by a terrible collision that occurred in 1913. Vineyard was where the Venice Short Line and the Santa Monica via Beverly Hills line diverged. There was also a Vineland, that WAS in the Northern District in Baldwin Park. The Vineland Substation building still stands as an empty shell, and the name lives on in the Vineland Drive-in Theater. There’s even rail passenger service in the form of Metrolink’s San Bernardino Line (which is more than we can say for Vineyard.)
