Pacific Electric Trailer
A truck trailer lettered for Pacific Electric is pictured here in an undated, unidentified location. Except for the round P.E. logo in the upper left area of the trailer, it seems to be identical to the Southern Pacific and the Northwestern Pacific truck trailers. The Northwestern Pacific was also a SP subsidiary.

Would this trailer have had a small side door on the opposite face? And who has done the best study of the early Espee related trailers?
Al, unfortunately I only found a file of this side of the trailer. Maybe someone will have a photo of the other side that we cam post here.
This subject may have been covered in Trainline Magazine, the official magazine of the Southern Pacific Historical & Technical Society.
Try searching their site for the subject on trailers here:

Good luck,

I found it referenced as issue 107, about 4-5 pages. I think RMC might have done one too.

Reference…Pictorial History of American Trucks by Niels Jansen 1993 (Dutch),1995 (2nd ed., English), Elmar/Bay View Books, page 46….photo of Pacific Motor Transport (P.M.T.) International Harvester DR-700 COE-type from 1940 numbered P.M.T. 9031 hauling dual round nose trailers in Daylight colors scheme with S.P. herald emblems and Railroad Service To Your Door slogans. Lead trailer nose lettered P.M.T. large over Southern Pacific small. Rear trailer on two axle sets has no large letters but only P.M.T. small visible to one side (might be mirrored on the other side). This P.E. trailer is of similar dimensions with some notable differences, but might also date to pre-war service.
