I used to accompany my Grandmother to shop at City foods. She lived only 2 blocks from this intersection.
To see a car in this paint job that never ran in LA, go to the Market St. Ry. website (streetcar.org) and look up SF Muni 1080. LATL 3165 was repainted into the 2-tone green MTA color scheme in the early 1960’s and is preserve in those colors at Orange Empire.
My Dad bought his ’55 Cadillac from Bob Spreen Cadillac on Pacific Blvd. in ’59. I still have the license plate frame from it hanging in my garage.
My Grandfather bought a new ’60 Olds Dynamic 88 there too.
Thats so cool
Amazing photo! I remember carrying giant 50lb bags of dog food purchased at City foods to my house. Our car always broke down so this was it for feeding the pups we rescued. I was only 7 when I made my first attempt to get that bag home and I stopped every 20 feet. Can’t help but wonder how many folks witnessed that.
Dicks automotive was down the street and norms is still there.
HP used to be a beautiful city where kids could roam unsupervised and leave a bicycle in the lawn over night.
It’s sad to see how crime changes everything..
My yellow 1956 Cadillac coupe de ville was sold new at this dealership new in September of 56 I’d love to see more photos of this dealership !!!
Pacific & Randolph
