Concrete roadway on the left was the on-ramp from Soto Street descending onto the westbound Ramona Parkway, today’s San Bernardino Freeway. This ramp no longer exists and was situated south of Marengo Street, a totally different location from the present-day on-ramp north of Marengo. Pile bridge in the right background carried Cornwell Street, an overcrossing that was eliminated during one of the periodic widenings of the freeway.

Building on the right is the Valley Junction Substation. Not sure, but it may have been 600 volts only, because there was another sub in the southwest corner of Alhambra (near Ramona Convent, and near the present Metrolink siding) that probably fed the 1200 volt section of the San Bernardino Line that began just east of Valley Jct.
