The near bus is just a bit too far away to read the headsign, but it might be Los Angeles via Oak Knoll, since the Oak Knoll rails were pulled out a few months earlier.
As an aside – that car house was at South Fair Oaks and Mary Street, i.e., Fair Oaks just south of Walnut (Mary Street doesn’t exist any more).
