I hardly know anything about the PE “Blimps”. But, I am certain of this – the “Blimps” were awesome in their heyday. They were some of the finest equipment to run on the Pacific Electric Railway. Judging by the photos in the Donald Duke Collection, they were awesome to look at, too.
I am going to keep an eye on eBay for a few pre-owned “Blimps”. They will be a great fit in my growing Suydam brass scale model train collection.
Train set is westbound on Ocean Blvd headed to Terminal Island for CalShip. UA and FOX West Coast theaters are in the background. War time traffic called for service between TI and LGB via the bridge over the LA River near 7th on the west side of LGB.
