    I’ve often wondered if this extra long consist may be a 4th of July train or perhaps due to a convention crowd.

    Impressive indeed! But, it does appear that the front car has no visible riders and all the windows are closed, while the trailing cars have sporadic windows open and what appears to be some passengers in at least the second car.

    For what it’s worth, a quick search of the surrounding buildings indicates the location as Long Beach Ave. and 22nd St. The signals are likely the approach signals for Amoco Jct.

    This same picture shows up on the first page of the book “Passenger Service of Pacific Electric”. The caption indicated that the photo was taken on Labor Day, 1941. Only four months later the nation was at war.
