The Clyde Beatty Circus used to travel by PE. Back in 1950 the train came into Arcadia from Monrovia or points east with a PE freight motor at each end (1621 and 1619, as I recall and set up in a field on the north side of the tracks opposite the Arcadia Substation and track worker quarters. In 1951, a Baldwin diesel (1320-class) brought the circus to town; this time they had to go down Santa Anita Ave. to the present site of Arcadia High School. Not sure what they did in 1952, the PE tracks were gone by then, and I think the high school was under construction.
