5028 at USC
Metropolitan Coach Lines / Pacific Electric PCC car no. 5028 heads east on Exposition Blvd. with the University of Southern California looming in the background. This is likely a railfan special train. The image is dated February 22, 1953.

The car would have belonged to Metropolitan Coach Lines–by the time
LAMTA (version 1) was established, the PE PCCs had been out of service for at least two years. Note that in another year or so, electric rail service will return to USC in the form of the Expo Line light rail, although this area will be running in a below-grade structure. Judging from the number of people in the car, this was a fan trip. Also, the car appears to have trolley wheels, rather than shoes, probably for visiting freight-only track.
This car is headed eastward. The camera is viewing toward USC which is on the north side of Exposition, so a car traveling from left to right in a photo taken from this spot would be going east.
