Another great view of Vineyard Junction as seen from the West Blvd bridge that passed over both the PE and Venice Blvd. The end of LARY’s P Line is just out of sight on the extreme right hand side middle of the frame at Pico and Rimpau Blvd, making this a remarkable transit hub of its day.
This photo brings back some memories. The parking lot appearing on the right of the photo was actually built onto the roof of the Sears & Roebuck store at this location. The Sears had a refreshment stand downstairs and many of the PE trainmen between runs terminating at Vineyard took their break at this refreshment stand. A small boy (as was I) was impressed by their uniforms with shiny brass buttons and service stripes.
I liked everything about the “Hollywood” Cars on the Pacific Electric. They were sharp looking cars.
This shows the fire damage to Cooper Lumber. Yet to be rebuilt.
